Bakers Farm
Commission: Douch Biomass was approached by Bakers Farm to utilise their existing high quality, managed wood supply, to provide heat and hot water to the farm and worker cottages at a lower cost than their previous fossil fuel fired system.
Boiler Type: Herz Firematic Biocontrol 100kW
Fuel Type: Wood Chip, G30-50/ W35
Fuel Storage: The existing grain silo at Bakers Farm was adapted to use as a large wood chip store. This was achieved by fitting doors in the side of the silo.
CO2 emission reduction: 826 tonnes over 20 years
Case History: Bakers Farm is a 700 acre section of the Dragons Estate, with 500 acres of woodland known as Southwater Woods. A mixed arable and cattle farm, Bakers Farm has an environmentally friendly ethos and takes part in a number of government environmental protection schemes. The Farm’s large supply of Beech, Oak and Ash from Southwater Woods is managed and used as a sustainable firewood supply. This made the introduction of a biomass system on to the Farm highly feasible and cost effective.
